Our Philosophy

At Little Skool Early Education Centre, we believe that fostering an environment that serves a nurturing foundation for holistic growth and development of each child in our care. Our philosophy is the root in understanding that early childhood is a critical period in shaping a child’s future, and we are committed to providing a safe, inclusive and stimulating space where children can flourish emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically and spiritually.

At Little Skool we focus on children’s learning, while recognising and valuing that each child is unique and possess’ their own talent, interest and pace of development. We tailor our approach to meet the individual needs of the child, insuring they are supported and empowered to explore their curiosities and develop at their own personal pace. This sets the children up to being in the moment, belonging to the environment and becoming a strong independent learner.

We embrace the holistic nature of children’s development tailoring our approach to promote children’s rights across various domains: language development, cognitive development, emotional development, social development and physical development. While providing opportunities for creative expression, critical thinking, problem-solving and self-discovery.

The children will be using play-based experiences, as it engages the child through hands-on experiences that encourages their exploration, experimentation and imagination skills. As they are developing life skills, while enjoying a sense of joy and accomplishment through play-based learning. The learning environment plays a key role in Reggio Emilia’s approach, as a sense of security is paramount for children’s wellbeing and development. We prioritise ourselves as educational leaders in creating a safe and welcoming environment where children feel emotionally secure and valued.

We welcome and celebrate the diversity of our community and our curriculum incorporates a diverse perspective of cultures traditions and fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding for one another. We believe that learning about different cultures enriches children’s lives and prepares them for the real world.

We recognise that Little Skool Early Education stands on the Dharrawal land and we show our respect to the Dharrawal people, by acknowledging the traditional custodians, both Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their connection to the land, sea and community. We recognise that families and early childhood educators play a very significant part in a child’s learning journey, and we promote partnerships with families to hold open lines of communication about each child’s learning.

We incorporate and ask families for insight involving their child’s learning journey, to collaborate and make connections between the home and early learning environment. This creates consistency for the child, and helps our educators support the families in our care.

Our goal is to instil a lifelong love of learning in every child that comes through our doors. As we aim to provide a positive attitude towards education, building curious, motivated and self-directed children on their unique learning journey. We nurture their natural sense of wonder as we empower children to approach new challenges with enthusiasm and confidence. We believe in teaching children to be responsible and caring with the various activities and experiences. We encourage children to show respect, appreciate and explore their natural world and instil values of sustainability and environmental conscientiousness from a young age.

Our educator’s pledge is to be a child’s advocate to promote support and protect a child’s young learning journey. We will be honest and demonstrate emotions and discoveries. Through meaningful experiences we can create a grounded foundation as we prepared children for life’s wonder. We are committed to providing the highest quality of education and care for children to give them the best start in life.

We build partnership with families, early childhood professionals, and the broader community to ensure children are happy, healthy and develop a passion for learning to encourage all children to reach their full potential.

We believe in providing a warm friendly, inviting and engaging atmosphere, which will provide opportunities for growth of knowledge, skills and dispositions for learning, allowing children to conduct their own inquiries, ask questions and investigate while feeling safe, secure and supported. We will hold each other accountable and take responsibility for the choices we make. We will praise each other for their personal accomplishments and celebrate together as we strive to achieve this plan for our service.
